Message from the host:

The great firearms debate is one the most controversial topics ever. I love them, others hate them, some don't know how they feel about them at all. Whatever your viewpoint, I accept it and invite you to come out to this event regardless.

We are going to get up close and personal with how you feel about firearms, what you love, what you hate, what you fear and what you've always wanted to know.

As a community and as women it is important to share perspectives and have the confidence to speak about our views from a place of knowledge. It is also important to know the safety aspects and responsibilities that are expected when in the presence of a firearm. Thus the goal is to inform and have fun.

And yes, we are going all out. You will have the opportunity to handle and shoot a firearm in a safe and private environment in order.

I promise that whatever view you walked in with, by the end of this session you will take away something valuable from this experience and have a better understanding of firearms and their place in our community.

I look forward to seeing you at 2pm on 22 March 2015.

Please also be sure to read the frequently asked questions below:

1. Where is the venue and how do I get there?

Cayman Islands Sport Shooting Association shooting range in George Town. Please see directions on the ticketing site http://caymango.com/event/safety-ready-womans-guide-firearms/

2. Is this event for women only?

Yes, the event is for female attendees only. There will be a few male Range Officers on site who I am grateful to have assisting us with practical demonstrations.

3. Can I bring someone else with me?

Regrettably, no. Space is limited and the access to the event is by pre-registration only. Any unregistered attendees will not be able to enter or stay at the venue.

4.  What do I wear?

Casual or gym type clothing. T-shirt, jeans or shorts with trainers or sneakers. For safety reasons low cut shirts, tank tops and flip flips/sandals are not recommended.

You will need to bring eye protection (safety glasses or sunglasses).

Ear protection will be provided but feel free to bring your own if you have them.

5. What if I change my mind and don't want to shoot?

You will not be pressured to do anything that you are not comfortable doing.  The opportunity is there for your experience and Certified Range Officers will be present to guide you through the process in a safe manner.

6. Can I take pictures?

There will be an opportunity to take pictures but for everyone's comfort we ask that you do not take pictures.

7. Can I take empty ammunition cases as souvenirs?

No, please do not remove these or anything else from the range without checking. Firearms and certain firearm related accessories require a license to posses, the breach of which carries a heavy penalty. We will let you know what souvenirs are safe to take home.

8. Do I need to be a member of the Cayman Islands Sport Shooting Association to attend?

No, this is a special event so you do not have to be a member of the club to participate. If you are later interested in becoming a member there will be information given on how to apply.

9. What is the minimum age to attend?

You need to be 18 yrs or older.
